Royals To Promote Prized Prospect Brady Singer

Singer will start the Royals' second game of the season.

(610 Sports) The Royals will promote prized pitching prospect Brady Singer and include him on the Opening Day roster, manager Mike Matheny told reporters Wednesday.

Singer will start the Royals' second game of the 60-game season, which comes against the Indians on Saturday afternoon.

Singer, who turns 24 in August, hasn't yet appeared in the big leagues. He went 12-5 with a 2.85 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 26 starts split between advanced Class-A and Double-A in 2019.

The Royals selected Singer in the first round at No. 18 overall in the 2018 amateur draft.

Kansas City opens its season at Cleveland on Friday evening, with Danny Duffy set to oppose Shane Bieber on the mound.
