Breaking news as our very own Carrington Harrison notes that according to a source Sammy Watkins reinjured himself in practice yesterday and had an MRI.

Very quickly after this report Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network confirmed he will miss significant time and likely be out until well into January.

Sammy Watkins of course was one of the Chiefs key free agent acquisitions in the offseason. Watkins has had injury problems throughout his career but it's worth noting he didn't miss a single game last season with the Rams. The only game he didn't play in was due to rest after they had already clinched their playoff birth. Sammy Watkins is the second highest paid player on the team and carries significant cap hit for the Chiefs this year and next season.

The Chiefs did sign FA WR Kelvin Benjamin yesterday which would indicate they knew that Sammy Watkins could be sidelined for some time.

We'll hear from head coach Andy Reid live on 610 Sports Radio today at 1. Be locked in to Show & Vern for all updates on the Chiefs.
