Reality Sets In

Free Agency Opens = Royals Change Ahead

Reality begins now for Royals fans.  The World Series is concluded and that means free agency is open.  The Royals face a Monday deadline to present qualifying offers to some of their pending free agents.  Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas and Lorenzo Cain are all expected to receive qualifying offers so that if they sign elsewhere for better than $50 million the Royals will get back a draft pick.  It also doesn't preclude the Royals from working out a long term deal.  But those three along Alcides Escobar, Jason Vargas, Melky Cabrera, Mike Minor and Trevor Cahill are all open for business.

We may have to accept some change that hopefully builds for a solid foundation for the Royals franchise.  Punch me now, I've looked at some power rankings, and they aren't good.  It may be tough in 2017 at least.

And another potential storyline remains for now and that's the future of Dayton Moore.   Atlanta still hasn't filled their post.  Hopefully we'll see more playing D by the Royals brass.
