Terez Paylor (beat writer for the Chiefs with the Kansas City Star and regular guest on 610 Sports Radio during football season) first reported that the Chiefs had signed restricted free agent Xavier Williams of the Arizona Cardinals per a source.

He helps fill the void on the defensive line with Bennie Logan who is a free agent probably moving on.  The Chiefs put out an offer since he was a restricted free agent but the Cardinals did not match the offer per Terez.  Xavier played locally at Grandview high school and played in college at Northern Iowa.  He is 6'2" and 309 lbs and went undrafted in 2015.  He was the league leader in run stuff percentage by Pro Football Focus last year.

Pro Football Focus had called him a must re-sign with the Cardinals.  This is what they had to say:

Xavier Williams, DI, 80.8 overall grade

This one is simple, and most likely to actually happen. Williams is a restricted free agent, so in all likelihood by the time free agency opens, he’ll still be a member of the Cardinals franchise, and it would make sense. Rucker is 34 years old and himself an unrestricted free agent and the Cardinals are still trying to figure out life without Calais Campbell on the interior of their defense. With the potential of Williams re-signing, they would bring back the league’s leader in run-stop percentage among defensive tackles as he hauled down 16 run-stops on 110 snaps in run defense in 2017."-Pro Football Focus
