Wild night in Foxboro tonight as the Chiefs and Patriots put on a show in the best game in the NFL to this point.  The Chiefs fell down 24-9 at halftime but the Chiefs responded by putting up 17 points in the 3rd quarter and 14 in the 4th but it wasn't enough as the Chiefs defense could not stop the Patriots offense.   There was only 1 punt in this game and it was by the Chiefs.  The Patriots won 43-40.

-Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes put on a show tonight.  Tom threw for 340 yards a TD and a QB rating of 109.9.  Patrick Mahomes put up 352 yards with 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions but had a 109.9 qb rating.

Kansas City’s 40 points in tonight’s game put the Chiefs at five 30+ point games for the season which ranks as tied for fourth-best in Chiefs history. In six games the Chiefs have scored 30+ points in five games which ties with last year’s record (five) through the entire season.

MAHOMES CONTINUES TO BREAK RECORDS: QB Patrick Mahomes completed 23 of 36 passes for 352 yards in tonight’s game against the New England Patriots. His 352 yards gives him five consecutive games with 300+ passing yards. Mahomes is the first quarterback in Chiefs history to throw for 300+ yards in five consecutive games. He also tied for third-most 300+ passing yard games in a season with QBs Elvis Grbac (5 in 2000), Trent Green (5 in 2003) and Alex Smith (5 in 2017).

His 352 yards in tonight’s game gives him 1,865 yards through the first six games of the season which ranks first in franchise history. Mahomes passed QB Alex Smith’s previous record of 1,637 passing yards through Weeks 1-6 set in 2017.

Mahomes connected on four touchdown throws in the game, marking his third game of the season with three or more touchdown throws. Mahomes has thrown for 18 touchdowns this season. He finished the game with a 110.0 passer rating, marking his fourth 100.0+ rating game of the season.

HUNT REGISTERS FIRST 100-YARD RECEIVING GAME: RB Kareem Hunt finished the game with five receptions for 105 yards and one touchdown, marking his first-career 100-yard receiving performance. His previous high was a 98-yard performance, also coming at New England, in Week 1 of the 2017 season.

Hunt finished the game with 185 total yards from scrimmage (80 rushing, 105 receiving), ranking as the third-most single-game scrimmage yards in his career.

LUCAS AND SPEAKS LOG FIRST NFL START: S Jordan Lucas and Rookie LB Breeland Speaks both made their first NFL start in tonight’s matchup against the Patriots. Lucas started the game at safety, while Speaks started at right outside linebacker. Lucas ranked second on the team with 10 tackles (four solo) and one pass defensed.

SPEAKS LOGS FIRST SACK: Rookie LB Breeland Speaks recorded the first sack of his career in tonight’s game, taking down QB Tom Brady for a loss of seven yards and forcing a fumble that was recovered by DL Allen Bailey. This also marked Speaks’ first-career forced fumble. Bailey has four fumble recoveries for his career. In his first NFL start Speaks added six tackles (two solo) to his sack and forced fumble. Bailey finished the game with three tackles (two solo) to go along with his fumble recovery.

JONES DROPS BRADY: DL Chris Jones logged his second sack of the season taking down QB Tom Brady for a loss of six yards and forcing a fumble that was recovered by the Patriots. This marked Jones’ first forced fumble of the season and fifth of his career and put him at 10.5 sacks (-73.0 yards) for his career. Jones finished the game with three tackles (one solo) to go along with his sack and forced fumble.

MAHOMES FINDS HUNT FOR A BIG SCORE: On the opening drive of the second half RB Kareem Hunt scored on a 67-yard pass from QB Patrick Mahomes. This marked the longest touchdown pass for Mahomes’ career until he connected with WR Tyreek Hill later in the game for a 75-yard score. The 67-yard reception is the second-longest touchdown reception for Hunt. Hunt has scored two receiving touchdowns this season and five for his career. Tonight’s touchdown puts Hunt at 17 touchdowns (12 rushing, five receiving) for his career.

FOURTH DOWN PERFECTION: Kansas City has a perfect conversion percentage this season when going for it on fourth down. In six games the Chiefs have attempted to convert four 4th-and-1 plays and have succeeded every time (one vs. San Francisco and two at Denver).

SMITH’S BIG RETURN: Rookie CB Tremon Smith returned a kickoff 97 yards to the New England three-yard line to set up a Kansas City touchdown in the fourth quarter. In Smith’s first game as the primary kick returner he recorded four returns for 180 yards.

HILL FINDS THE ENDZONE THREE TIMES: WR Tyreek Hill scored on 14- ,1- and 75-yard passes from QB Patrick Mahomes in tonight’s game. Mahomes’ 75-yard touchdown pass to Hill marks the longest touchdown pass of his career and Hill’s second-longest touchdown reception. This marks Hill’s first three-touchdown game and the third multi-receiving touchdown game for his career. Hill led the team with seven receptions for 142 yards and three touchdowns. His 142 yards mark the third-most receiving yards he has logged in a game.

BUTKER’S BIG NIGHT: K Harrison Butker was 4-for-4 on field goal attempts in tonight’s game. Butker accounted for 16 points during the Sunday night matchup (four field goals, four extra points). He has not missed a field goal or an extra point this season and has a streak of 13 made field goals dating back to Week 17 of 2017.

COLQUITT CONTINUES CAREER CLIMB: With his one 51-yard punt in tonight’s game P Dustin Colquitt passed P Mark Royals (47,021) for 14th most punting yards in NFL history. Colquitt now has 47,024 punting yards on 1,047 punts for his career with 426 landing inside the 20-yard line.  He currently ranks fourth all-time in NFL history for most punts inside the 20 and needs 14 more to pass P Brad Maynard (439) for third-most in league history.

CHIEFS LOG TWO 100-YARD RECEIVERS: Both WR Tyreek Hill and RB Kareem Hunt recorded over 100 yards receiving in tonight’s matchup. Hill recorded 142 yards on seven receptions with three touchdowns and Hunt recorded 105 yards on five receptions with one touchdown. The last time the Chiefs had two 100+ yard receivers was in the second game of the season at Pittsburgh when TE Travis Kelce (109) and WR Sammy Watkins (100) both recorded 100 or more receiving yards.
