Well the 2018 NFL draft is right around the corner (Thursday April 26-28) at A T & T Stadium Arlington, TX.  Let's cross our fingers that KC host the draft in 2019 or 2020 as the decision will be made in May.  Last year in my mocks it was all about Patrick Mahomes this year the needs are different.

**2 possible choices here but this pick should be defense. ROUND 2 PICK 54-Jaire Alexander-CB Louisville. Had injury concerns last year and played in 6 games.  But he is extremely quick and ran a 4.38 40 at the combine.  Also can return punts. **OR Lorenzo Carter-EDGE-Georgia. Could be the EDGE the Chiefs are looking for but might not be here at this spot.  Either way both great choices.

Lorenzo Carter

ROUND 3 PICK 78- Michael Gallup-WR Colorado State2nd team AP All American.  Had 100 catches for 1413 yards.  Here they both are:

ROUND 3 PICK 86-Braden Smith-G Auburn-Local kid from Olathe South High School.  Team captain and  First team AP All American and 1st team all SEC as well as on many other list. The Chiefs could use some help on the offensive line at guard.  They are set with LDT but had a rotation at left guard.  He played primarily at right guard for Auburn but would give this line an upgrade.  The line for the Chiefs did perform well last year as the had the leagues leading rusher in Kareem Hunt and Alex Smith had over 4,000 yards passing.

ROUND 4 PICK 122- Keke Coutee-WR Texas TechPlayed with Patrick Mahomes at Tech which makes this a good fit. Plus he can return kicks. Ran a 4.43 at the combine.

**2 choices with this pick as well depending on who is there. ROUND 4 PICK 124-Michael Dickson-P Texas.  Ray Guy award winner as best punter in college football.  Was also MVP of the Texas Bowl against Mizzou.  With Colquit being a free agent this is a guy that could be a fixture like Harrison Butker for the long haul. **OR Kendrick Norton-DT Miami.  This could be a run stuffer for this defensive line which is much needed especially if they don't bring back Bennie Logan.

Kendrick Norton

"Good combination of mass and natural strength. Shows ability to plant his flag in the gap as a space eater. Possesses stout base and aggressive, loaded shoulder to attack down blocks and hold his ground. Hard to roll out of the way with double teams. Uses forceful, upward strike with initial punch. Creates a leverage point to lift centers out of their stance. Plays with effort and toughness. Uses quick slap to soften and access the gap on slants."-Lance Zierlein-NFL.COM.

ROUND 6 PICK 196- Micah Kiser-LB Virginia. Led the ACC in tackles for 3 straight years joining Luke Keuchly.  This is the comp pick the Chiefs were awarded.

ROUND 7 PICK 233-Durham Smythe-TE Notre Dame-Would be great as a blocking tight end. Used more of a run blocker in Notre Dame's heavy rushing attack but showcased his skills at the Senior Bowl.

ROUND 7 PICK 243-Andre Smith-LB North Carolina. This from Lance Zierlein on NFL.COM. Missed his final 10 games in 2017 wiht a knee injury which could drop him to this spot, but could go higher.

Two-down inside linebacker with a severe case of thumps who looks to impose his will against ball carriers as often as possible. Smith's lack of speed, athleticism and cover skills could hurt his draft stock, but his history as a consistent tackler and willing banger gives him a good chance to make a team no matter where he is drafted-Lance Zierlein

-So that is my mock 1.0 and there will be several more by the time we get to the draft.
