Who Will Be The Focal Point of the 2018 Chiefs Offense?

The Chiefs offense is stacked and everybody is talking about it...

But who will be the focal point of the offense? With so many new and emerging stars, there are a lot of options.

Welch - Travis Kelce

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Even with a RB as dynamic as Kareem Hunt, a deep threat like Tyreek Hill, and a redzone monster like Sammy Watkins, Travis Kelce is still Old Faithful. Kelce broke out in 2015 and 2016, but his season in 2017 solidified him as one of the best TEs in the NFL.

A big-time TE is not just a young QB's best friend, he's any QB's best friend. Kelce should make Patrick Mahomes' transition much easier as a constant safety blanket, and I expect him to be the focal point of the offense.

Fescoe - With a rookie QB, YES A ROOKIE QB, he is going to need his running game to really be a big time factor in the offense so he doesn't have all the pressure of winning games with his arm. For me that means Kareem Hunt should be the focal point of the 2018 offense.  As we know, games that matter most are won and lost on the ground.  We saw that first hand with the Titans in the playoffs this past season.  The better Hunt does the better Mahomes will do and the better the offense will do.  If he has runs like this, the offense could put up a record amount of points.

If the running game doesn't get going it could be a long year for the offense.

Kling - I'd like to say running game too.  But frankly, I just don't trust Andy Reid.  He's back to play calling with a new coordinator again, so my fear is he backs off Hunt in year 2.  So with a bunch of offensive guys back I have to go with what's different in 2018 and that starts with Pat Mahomes.  Sorry rook, I'm expecting you to set the rookie TD passing record with at least 26, what Alex Smith had last year, and press for his 4000 yard total as well.   The interception numbers will be up, but that's ok, starting chucking!
