What to Look Forward to in 2018

Aside from Pat Mahomes of Course

Fescoe In The Morning

Despite another Chiefs early playoff exit, it's not all gloom and doom for the Chiefs franchise as they now turn their sights on the 2018 season.    Fescoe in the Morning makes their picks of things they'll be looking forward to next season.   (Aside from Patrick Mahomes II, who we're all geeked out about!)

Fescoe - The Return of Eric Berry.  It took me a while to accept that his loss was a big deal but when I finally came around to realizing his loss was YUGE I wished he was back right away.  Berry is one of the biggest difference makers as an athlete we have ever seen in Kansas City.  He does it all from his play on the field to his preparation off the field and his mentoring of Marcus Peters.  Berry is such a vital vital aspect of this team and to get him back next year will be much needed.

Simple plays like that can change a season.  He did it a few times already over the course of his career.  The defense will get so much better with #29 back in the fold in 2018.

Kling - Youth on offense.  Kareem Hunt 22, Tyreek Hill 23, Travis Kelce 28, Spencer Ware 26, Charcandrick West 26, Chris Conley 25, Demarcus Robinson 23,  Albert Wilson 25 (FA) and Patrick Mahomes 22.  I could keep going but you see where this is headed.  The Chiefs skill guys have a nice window for success yet ahead.

Welch - A different defense. You could look at this defense and see 4-6 new starters in 2018, and it is time. They got old, they got slow, and they got smoked. Trading Alex Smith will free up $18M in cap space for the Chiefs to go sign free agents on defense, and most people expect them to draft heavy on defense. More Reggie Raglands will get this Chiefs defense back on track.
