3 Burning Post-Draft Questions for the Chiefs

What still needs to be addressed?

The NFL Draft is over, but the Chiefs still have plenty of questions that must be entered going into the 2018 seasons.

Welch - Will Patrick Mahomes live up to expectations?

This goes beyond just this draft, the success of 2 drafts fall on the shoulders of Patrick Mahomes. He is essentially the 1st round pick in both 2017 and 2018. That's a lot of pressure to carry, but with throws like this, I expect Mahomes to handle it very well.

Fescoe - Will the defense be able to stop anyone?

There are a lot of old faces that have moved on and a lot of new faces that no one really knows here in KC.  While a change needed to be made, the defense is now made up of largely unknowns, recovering players and newly acquired veterans.  This will be a work in progress.  However, the progress can be sped up if two guys really make an impact and that is Dee Ford and Justin Houston.  The success of the defense could rely on those 2 guys playing like the top pass rushers they are.  We need more of this out of Houston this year!

Kling - Are there too many new starters on defense to "get it" in the upcoming season?

Anthony Hitchens in at LB, a new NT, at least one maybe 3 new CBs,  maybe a new two guys back from injury in Dee Ford and Eric Berry, and whichever rookies enter the rotation.  That's a major overhaul on defense to try to assimilate in training camp to have a chance to gel for the season.   I'm worried this will become a "it takes a couple of years to learn Bob Sutton's defense" #footballexcuses opportunity.
