Fanning's Valentine's Day Tips

Hint*... Set The Bar Low

Tuesday's Tip might be the most simple tip of them all - Candles. Lots of 'em.

The ladies love candle light.  Do you ever hear about a wonderful and romantic fluorescent light dinner? Exactly.

Women love candles and candle light - get creative with them.  Here's what I suggest - get a box of fragrance free tea light candles.  It will cost you about $7. You can use them a bunch of different ways. They're little tiny suckers in little metal tins.  You can line the stairway with them leading up to your love nest.  You can place them all over the house.  You put them around the bathtub for her before you both get up in there.  Another way to use the tea light candles is to use them as a pathway to the dining room if you are making her dinner.  I only suggest doing this if you have hardwood floors.  Fire and carpet don't go well together.  You also need to mix in a few candles of various sizes.  Candles that smell good.  You can get them at just about any store.  I would go to Pier I.  That place is man's best friend.  Anything you get there makes you look like you have great taste.

Using candles will help you in multiple ways.  She'll know you spent time planning your evening.  Chances are you'e not a candle guy.  She'll appreciate you getting out of your comfort zone for her. She can also re-use the candles and every time she does, she'll think of the night you created for her.

Candles will help set the mood and most likely help ensure that your V-day ends with a bang!

Monday's Valentine's Day Tip - Start your lady's day off a smile

This is a very easy way to start her day off the right way.  Pull a "Santa" move.  What I mean by that is, just like you leave Santa some milk and cookies the night before Christmas, sneak downstairs and leave her a hand written know telling her how much you love her and leave a rose with it.  Just one rose.  Put it in a place where it's the first thing she sees in the morning when she goes down stairs to get her cup of coffee.

It's a very simple thing to do. She knows you took some time to make her day start the right way.  You can get a single rose for $4 at your local grocery store and the handwritten note only takes a few minutes.

BONUS TIP: If you have sons, show them the ropes.  Help them pick out a card for mom.  Let them pick it out.  It's their choice.  Teach them that Valentine's Day is a special day for the person you love.  By involving them in the process it makes them feel like big boys and helps them understand how to treat a woman.  Use V-day as a life lesson day for your boys.

Friday's tip is one that can be applied any time of the year, but it will be a big hit especially on Valentine's Day.

Here goes....it's a given that you're going to wine and dine your lady.  You're probably going to get her a gift. But here's one thing all women want in their man.  They want to know that you care about others, especially other people or things in her life.  No woman wants a self consumed a-hole that loves himself more than anything else on the planet.  The only way they'll put up with that is if you're rich!  Like Bill Gates or Warren Buffet rich and I'm assuming that's not you.  So listen up.

If she has a dog - bring a heart shaped dog biscuit for Scraps.  If she has a cat - get Lil' Smokey a toy.  That way she knows you care about what she cares about.  It also means when she sees her pet she will think of you and how generous you are.  I would say bring her mom some flowers - but that's a big time kiss ass move that could backfire.  Here's another next level thing you can do to make sure your lady knows it's not all about you - most women have a friend that doesn't have a Valentine. More than likely that friend has blown up her phone and told her the lonely sob story of her life and how she's going to be at home eating a bucket of ice cream in her PJ's while watching The Notebook on V-Day.  Pick up a medium proced bottle of win for her friend.  $20 max.  Give it to your girl to give to her friend.  Not only is it a nice gesture, but now you've got her friend on your side and that may come in handy down the line.

The end game is to make sure you care about what she cares about.  If you don't mean it - it probably won't work.  But if you sinceely mean it, it will be a hit on V-Day.

More Fanning's Valentine's Day Tips this Monday.  Have a great weekend.

Today's Tip is a beauty and it's for the beauty in your life!

This is the perfect way to to make sure your V-Day ends with a bang, if you know what I'm saying.  I'm providing you with the perfect "Love Letter" template.  Just use my letter (handwritten by you of course), tweak a few things here and there to make it a little more personal and you'll be good to go.  It will save you time and as one of my heroes, Bluto Blutarski famously said,"It don't cost nothin'."

My Dearest (insert wife/girfriend name here)...I probably don't say this enough to you so I'm saying it now, with a heartfelt and handwritten note.  I carry this feeling with me everywhere I go.  To work, when I'm out of town and during my most cherished time of every single day - WHEN I’M WITH YOU.

The first time I laid eyes on you my life changed for the better.  I wasn't worthy of such beauty and grace.  But somehow you saw it in your heart to let me join you on what has been the greatest journey I could've ever imagined.  Our story is far from complete, but when it is - years from now - it will be known as one of the greatest love stories of all time.

Our love is the first thing I think about when I wake in the morn and the last thing I think about when I lay my head down to sleep.

Your warmth, compassion, sense of humor and timeless beauty are the things that get me through my bad days.

I know I'm not a perfect man and never will be. I realize a chew two cans of skoal a day, sit on my ass, eat Cheetos and play video games for hours, don't have a job and still do beer bongs with my high school friends even though I'm in my 40's.  And yes - I went to see Stormy Daniels at Legs last week - but while I was sliding a stack of twenties into her pink micro thong with the black leather trim while she was using my knees to do a handstand so she could twerk in my face - I WAS ONLY THINK OF YOU! I'm sorry I butt-dialed you.  I thought my phone was off. It will never happen again my love. I'm so glad you're my Valentine and I love you with all my heart.  (insert your name here)
