Wow!  We have made it to the midway point of the 2018 season and all I can say is this has been one heck of a ride.  No one thought the Chiefs would be sitting at 7-1.  No one thought Patrick Mahomes would be a rock star and the leader in the clubhouse for MVP OF THE WHOLE LEAGUE!  And no one thought they would be unstoppable on offense.  All of this however is true.  Here is a quick look at how they became the best team in the AFC so far.

290- The Chiefs have scored more points than anyone in the NFL this season and the 290 scored is a franchise record thru 8 games, passing the 1966 team that put up 285 points thru their first 8 games.  That year Len Dawson threw for 2,527 yards and 26 touchdowns.  So far this year Patrick Mahomes has 2,526 yards and 26 touchdowns.  Mahomes has done in 8 games what Dawson did in 14.  Strap in baby!

Enjoying the process! #Brothers #ChiefsKingdom

71- Travis Kelce has caught a pass in 71 straight games which is 3rd highest in team history.

Freshy for Travis Kelce @killatrav ------ For my Football Fan Followers, who’s in your Top 3 TE’s in the League Right now?? #TravisKelce #KCChiefs #NFL #FantasyFootball ☘️✂️☘️ #PattyCuts

13- Mahomes is now 13th all time in touchdown passes in Chiefs history! By the time this season is over, Mahomes will be in the top 10 in Chiefs history when it comes to touchdown passes and if things continue to trend this way, could make it into the top 5 by next season.  To put this into perspective, Mahomes has 26 touchdowns thru 8 games and Alex Smith had 102 touchdown passes in 76 games.  Unreal.  Mahomes has a quarter of the touchdown passes in half a season than Smith did in 5 seasons.

Start of something! #ChiefsKingdom

3- Kareem Hunt is 3rd all time in Chiefs history in rushing yards per game.  He is averaging 80 yards per game and only trails Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson.  In fact LJ only has a .2 yard per game average better than Hunt.  With all the talk about Mahomes this year, sometimes we forget about Kareem Hunt who has been a star.

25.5- Dee Ford has a lot of career sacks.  He's 13th all time in Chiefs history in sacks. He's ahead of guys named Edwards and Poe and trails Derrick Johnson by just 2 career sacks.  Dee Ford may be the most under appreciated Chief on the roster this year.

The second half of the season starts Sunday and I can't wait to see what happens!
