Would KC Win?

Sometimes my mind tends to wander.  I found myself watching election coverage on Tuesday afternoon.  So much is going on in our country right now it's fascinating.  As I began to doze off from complete boredom,  I started to think about our Chiefs and that is where things took a turn.  I asked myself, If we assembled the best team possible from the other 3 AFC West squads could they beat the Chiefs.  My immediate response is NO.  Heck NO!  NO WAY!  The Chiefs have dominated the division.  They have won 18 of their last 19 games and have just ONE divisional loss since the Royals won the World Series.  They also just have 1 divisional loss since Donald Trump has taken over as President.  Pretty impressive run of games with success.  Andy Reid owns the West and he is not letting go any time soon.  So, if the Chiefs were to take on the best that the West has to offer, what would that team look like today?

On offense you start with Philip Rivers.  His teams have lost 9 in a row to the Chiefs.  They haven't gotten a win vs KC since Andy Reid's first year way back in 2013.  Since then its been all KC.  I'll take my chances with Rivers.  In the backfield you can give him Melvin Gordon and the Broncos Philip Lindsey.  Both had some success against the Chiefs this year running the football but they weren't able to sustain it and the Chiefs defense made plays against both of those guys when the game was on the line.  They are a dangerous duo but the Chiefs have shown they can make stops when they need to make stops as evidenced by the 4th quarter in Denver at the beginning of October.  Keenan Allen and Emmanuel Sanders are two very nice wide receivers and I am sure they will get their yards.  The name of the game is touchdowns and that duo has combined for 1 TD against the Chiefs this season.  Raiders tight end Jared Cook gets the start by default.  I like the Chiefs chances against him.  In fact the Chiefs defense has only surrendered 1 TD to a tight end all year from the AFC West, some dude named Jeff Heuerman scored for Denver a few weeks ago in Arrowhead.

Defensively?  Good luck fellas.  The Chiefs have outscored the AFC West by a combined 21 points so far this year.  They are winning each game against their divisional foes by at least a touchdown on average.  In the NFL, that is a HUGE margin of victory.  The Chargers have been the best against Patrick Mahomes this year.  They are the only team that didn't allow him to throw for 300 or more yards.  I think that starts with safety Derwin James.  He had a sack and knocked down 3 passes in that opener.  The kid can flat out play and is getting better as the season rolls on.  I would also take Casey Hayward as one of my CB's.  Some say he is the best CB in the AFC West right now. While quiet against the Chiefs, Melvin Ingram is still a guy you have to account for on every single play.  He's on pace for close to 10 sacks this season.  I would line him up at one of my defensive end spots.  On the other side I would have Bradley Chubb.  That guy is a star in the making right now in the NFL.  Those two guys together would be tough to stop, but the Chiefs match up with the best RT in the game today in Mitchell Schwartz and one of the best left tackles in Eric Fisher.  Mahomes gets rid of the ball fast and also can elude the rush, I would take my chances.  Von Miller and Chris Harris Jr would also join my all star squad from the Denver Broncos.  Obviously those guys are legit players but no one has showed consistent success covering the Chiefs WR's at any point in time this year.  Harris could be on Tyreek Hill all day long and that would just free up Sammy Watkins or Kareem Hunt in the passing game.  Brandon Marshall is also a very good linebacker.  He missed the last game against Houston but when healthy he can make plays...except against the Chiefs.  He had just 4 tackles in 2 games.  KC has his number.  Jonathan Hankins of the Raiders and Damion Square of the Chargers would be on my interior defensive line.  Those guys may not have huge names but they make plays and are very solid players.

Mack only had (4) his rookie year and @vonmiller had (11.5) IF the Coaches put him in the right position, the sky is the limit for @astronaut ! -- . . #BroncosCountry #DenverBroncos #Broncos #UnitedInOrange #Denver #Colorado #303 #5280 #BradleyChubb

I have really struggled to come up with players on both sides of the ball that I think could really challenge the Chiefs.  KC is solid at every single position that even against the best of the rest of the AFC West there is no way that KC is losing that football game.  The Patriots have made their mark dominating the AFC East every single year. Since 2003 the Pats are 73-19 vs the East.  In a copy cat league the Chiefs are doing the same thing out west.  When you can own your division like the Chiefs and Patriots have done it makes it that much easier to make the post season.  As long as Andy is running the show, I expect the Chiefs to stay the class of the west.
